Teaching Academic Vocbaulary

In my Developing Second Language Literacy class, we discussed how important it is to teach English language learners academic vocabulary. They will learn much of the social vocab on their own with their friends outside of class, but the classroom is the only place they may be exposed to academic vocabulary. In order for this vocab to stick, it must be taught in context and used in meaningful ways repeatedly in the course. Here is a great website to make teaching academic vocabulary meaningful and fun:
